Robin Rydes In To Top Leadership Post
|
Robin Ryde has been named as Head of the Centre for Strategic Leadership at the National School of Government, the UK government's centre of excellence in skills training and organisational development.
No stranger to central government, Robin's career has seen him work extensively with the Cabinet Office, where he was the youngest ever Director of the Prime Minister's flagship leadership development programme - the Top Management Programme. A qualified accountant, he recently held a leadership role at the National Audit Office, evaluating the success of a range of major government programmes.
More widely, Robin has delivered cross-sector development and consultancy in the UK where, as a Director of the 4ps consultancy, he was responsible for skills development associated with some of the largest and most complex infrastructure investments in the UK. His work has also taken him to the US and other territories including South America and Eastern Europe.
Robin is particularly interested in the way leaders think and approach problems and the common dilemmas they face. His forthcoming book - Thought Leadership, Moving Hearts and Minds (available in 2007) - is inspired by his engagement with hundreds of private and public sector Chief Executives.
The Centre for Strategic Leadership embraces a faculty of acknowledged expertise, supported by input from the new Sunningdale Institute and a team of National School associates; it brings together academic and more pragmatic talents, and makes them available to public service leaders and organisations seeking insight into organisational development and delivery issues.
Robin explained: "As the home of corporate leadership programmes for the Civil Service, the Centre for Strategic Leadership exists to support and lead strategic change across government. Our strength lies in our ability to bring together some of the finest academics, practitioners and institutions in the UK and overseas to skill-up senior level people. I am delighted to take forward this Centre and to help drive forward change across Whitehall."
The National School of Government is the centre of excellence for learning and development in support of the strategic business priorities of government. Presently part of the Cabinet Office, it is becoming a non-ministerial department in January 2007.
