2m Brits Wired Up
|
Some two millions Britons now work from home - one in 14 of those in employment.
Latest official figures reveal the rapid rise in the number of UK 'teleworkers' - people who work at home at least one day a week, and use both a phone and computer to do their job.
The Labour Force Survey, issued by National Statistics (the government body formerly known as the Office Of National Statistics) shows the total number of teleworkers at 2.2 million, an increase of between 65 - 70% in just four years.
The survey reveals...
1: Most teleworkers are men (67%) - a notable increase on the UK's overall male employment rate of just 53%.
2: Teleworkers are concentrated in certain occupational groups - the largest being in professional, managerial and senior positions.
